One possible use is to collect information about McNerney family genealogy.
Some McNerneys have contributed some material, and it may be found on the next page.
The "Original Eight" McNerneys in my ancestral line were all born in County Limerick, Ireland during the 1830's through the 1850's
*Thomas McNerney was one of those "McNerneys from across the Shannon" (which would be County Clare), no relation to the Limerick McNerneys. Actually, there is some connection: The Knight of Glin, County Limerick offered a bottle of Brandy to any who would swim the River Shannon (implied: and stay for good!). Three McNerney brothers - Patrick, John, and James - accepted the offer, swam the river, settled in County Limerick, and drank the Brandy. They were known after that as the "Brandy McNerneys" - but not to their faces. This was in 18th Century. John McNerney and his family - including his son Thomas, father of the ``original eight'' - above - emigrated to the US about 1870.
Here are two maps of Ireland: A County map
(35k), and one that shows a few towns,
roads,
rivers, and other things (260k).
My data was collected by my sister, Rosemary McNerney Winkler. She lives in Albuquerque, NM.
